An Anthropic engineering manager has stopped giving coding interviews
Felix Rieseberg, who has led engineering for Claude.ai, Cowork and Claude Code Desktop, wrote Tuesday that he no longer uses small coding tests because Claude beats people at them. He now reads résumés and portfolios for prototypes that show judgment, and says he has not found a full replacement.
His advice to junior engineers is to build a working prototype aimed at their manager's manager's goals. That works for the person who already has a job. For the graduate who needs one, the gate that remains is a portfolio, which favors people with the free time to build one. SourcesA
