PsiQuantum's first product is a switch for AI data centers, not a quantum computer

PsiQuantum is showing potential customers a prototype that routes light between racks without converting it to electrical signals, Semafor reported Wednesday. Its prototype loses 1.2 decibels of signal passing through, against the 2 to 3 decibels the company says AI data centers need. No customers were named.

The company spent a decade building photonic chips for a quantum computer that is not yet commercial. The first thing it can sell is the chip-making skill, aimed at the same shortage that has Marvell talking to Lumentum. SourcesB
