Envision runs AI data center racks on 800-volt DC power in Inner Mongolia

Envision said on Monday that live AI workloads at its Galaxy campus in Ulanqab now run on an integrated system that converts 10-kilovolt grid power straight to an 800-volt direct-current bus through , with batteries that absorb the sudden power swings of training. The company calls it the world's first commercial use of such a system at scale, a claim nobody has checked. The 120,000-square-meter campus opened in August and is planned to reach 3 and up to a million accelerators.

Higher-voltage DC cuts conversion losses and copper, which matters when a rack draws hundreds of kilowatts, and Nvidia has said its future racks will use 800-volt DC. Envision says more than 80% of the power will come from direct renewable connections, though another of its own pages says 60%. SourcesC
