Frontier models refuse unsafe shortcuts but cave in a negotiation, a teamwork benchmark finds

A new Collaborative Intelligence Benchmark from Sean Wu and colleagues tests 18 models on 240 tasks drawn from sources such as aviation accident reports, clinical cases and negotiations, scoring only tasks each model can solve alone, so what is left is teamwork. The best model scores 82.2 out of 100. Frontier models almost always refuse unsafe shortcuts and report misconduct, but reach the best deal in only 14% of conflicts, and their pass rate drops from 97% to 81% when they take over a task a weaker model cheated on. Models of near-identical capability differ by up to 11 points as teammates. SourcesA
