Warsh made both sides of the AI trade at Jackson Hole, and stocks read the second half
Kevin Warsh used his first Jackson Hole keynote as Fed chair to credit AI with a real shot at lifting growth, then spend the rest of the speech on why that does not change what he does next. "The potential for substantially higher growth is on the rise," he said, describing "ever-expanding pools of capital" pouring into AI infrastructure and calling it "a kind of super Moore's law." He pivoted from there to the number markets actually price: inflation running well above the Fed's "firm, fixed" 2% target, with 65 months of elevated prices that, in his words, "sits squarely with the central bank." He also used the platform to retire routine as a standing tool, saying it has "outstayed its welcome" outside genuine emergencies: markets that trade off Fed predictions instead of incoming data leave working Americans exposed whenever the Fed misjudges. Stocks took the inflation half seriously: the S&P 500 fell 0.25% to 7,711.76 and the Nasdaq 0.52% to 26,402.42, both off Thursday's records, while the Dow held near flat at 53,559.99. GLM-5.3's open weights are actually live, cyber caveat included
The countdown Z.ai posted to reached zero this morning. GLM-5.3's weights are downloadable now, in Safetensors, BF16 and , under the model's own glm-5.3 license, with deployment guides for vLLM, SGLang and Transformers already published and eleven community live within hours. The model backs its "Frontier Coding with Emergent Cyber Capabilities" tagline with numbers: Terminal-Bench 3.0 jumped from 4.6 to 28.3 over GLM-5.2, and CyberGym, the benchmark that triggered the two-week safety delay in the first place, now sits at 84.5%, a new high mark for an open-weights model. Z.ai's answer to the tension is a gate rather than a redaction: defensive uses, code review, vulnerability scanning, patch development, ship unrestricted, while offensive capability requires the company's own "Cybersecurity Trusted Access" verification. Salesforce put its whole CRM inside Claude, and called it Claudeforce
Salesforce and Anthropic launched Claudeforce, an expanded partnership that lets Claude read and act on a company's live Salesforce data, its pipeline, deal history and business logic, without a seller opening the Salesforce app at all. The first product, Salesforce in Claude, ships 37 prebuilt sales skills built jointly by both companies covering meeting prep, deal-health review and automated pipeline updates, with governed actions executed from inside Claude itself. It reaches pilot customers now, with an open beta due in September and skills for other business functions arriving through the rest of the year. Marc Benioff called it "the world's #1 AI" meeting "the world's #1 AI CRM." Dario Amodei framed it as pointing Claude "at the customer information and business context [companies] have been building in Salesforce for decades." The deal landed inside Salesforce's own Q2 earnings call, alongside $2.6 billion of investment gains tied to its Anthropic stake: a company that spent the year fielding "SaaSpocalypse" questions just answered by letting the biggest in. AI security funding keeps pace with AI security incidents: Alice raises $140 million
Alice, the AI trust and safety company formerly known as ActiveFence, closed a $140 million round led by Apax Digital, bringing total funding to $280 million. The company red-teams before release and runs runtime guardrails in production, drawing on a proprietary intelligence database built over nearly a decade of tracking fraud, extremism and disinformation online, work it rebranded around in January when it renamed itself for the AI security market. CEO Noam Schwartz put the pitch in one line: "We are very quickly democratizing capabilities before we've democratized the defenses. This round is about closing that gap." The round landed two days before this week's other AI security news: Russian-speaking criminals using Cursor to breach seven companies, and 116 companies asking frontier labs for exactly the kind of incident-time model access a vendor is built to provide. Waymo picks Munich for its first stop in the European Union
Waymo said it will start manually driving and HD-mapping Munich's streets in the coming weeks, aiming for public robotaxi rides by the end of 2027: its fourth market and first in continental Europe, after the US, London and Tokyo. The company leaned on its own safety record to make the case before a single autonomous mile runs there, citing 16 times fewer serious-injury crashes and 14 times fewer pedestrian-injury crashes than human drivers across more than 350 million fully autonomous miles. Co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana called earning "the community's trust" the top priority: the rollout starts with trained specialists behind the wheel, not an empty seat. Germany's newly permissive legal framework and Munich's standing as an automotive engineering hub decided the site; Uber already runs there, so Waymo arrives as the second autonomous option, not the first, that European regulators have had to weigh. Eighty British performers ask their government to let them own their own voice
More than 80 UK performers, Nicola Coughlan, Hugh Bonneville, Matt Lucas, Luke Evans and Siobhan McSweeney among them, signed an open letter asking the government to give every UK citizen statutory ownership of their own voice, under a campaign called Save Our Voices Now. The campaign cites its own finding that 28% of UK adults have already been targeted by a voice-cloning scam, and its organizers point to Denmark, which is moving to give citizens legal ownership of their faces, bodies and voices, with the right to demand removal and seek compensation. Bonneville's framing was direct: "My voice is unique, it's mine, it's part of my identity. So is yours." The government's answer so far is a promised consultation, not a bill. SourcesBB
South Korea's Wrtn becomes the first Korean AI app maker past a trillion won
Wrtn Technologies raised a $72 million at a Bloomberg put at $870 million, or 1.2 trillion won, the first Korean consumer AI app maker to cross that line. New investors Coreline Ventures and Eugene Asset Management joined existing backers Goodwater Capital, Antler and the state-backed Korea Development Bank. The five-year-old company builds consumer AI apps and says the money funds expansion into East Asia, GPU capacity and its NLP engineering team. Total funding is now $167 million against a valuation more than five times that, the kind of ratio that used to sit with the labs training frontier models rather than the apps built on top of them.
