AMD agrees to buy World Labs for $8.2 billion in stock
AMD has signed an agreement to acquire World Labs in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.2 billion. After closing, Fei-Fei Li will become executive vice president and chief scientist, reporting to Lisa Su. The companies expect the transaction to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
World Labs builds models that generate and simulate interactive three-dimensional environments, with applications in robotic learning. AMD says owning that research capability will help it design hardware and software around emerging workloads. World Labs says the companies were already collaborating on model training and optimization. The acquisition would bring that feedback into AMD's own research organization. Sonnet 5.5 targets lower task costs without cutting token prices
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 today at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, unchanged from Sonnet 5. The company reports output generation more than 30% faster and task costs up to 30% lower because the model uses fewer tokens. Those are vendor measurements; savings depend on the workload and reasoning setting.
The migration has a concrete compatibility requirement: applications with thinking disabled must switch to the new between_tools setting. Sonnet 5.5 also becomes the first Sonnet released with the company's stronger cybersecurity safeguards. GitHub separately confirmed in Copilot, with a gradual rollout and administrator controls. Mitratech buys BotDojo to connect agents to legal records
Mitratech has acquired BotDojo to add autonomous-agent technology to its ARIES legal software. The announcement gives no purchase price. The planned integration connects agents with matter records, spending data and documents already held in Mitratech's systems.
The company says two-way support will arrive this fall: outside agents will be able to work with governed Mitratech services, while Mitratech agents will be able to use external tools. It plans to demonstrate the capabilities at its October customer conference. That timetable leaves buyers with an announced integration to evaluate.
