Month-scale positions with reversal tests, then September's calls revisited. The weekly calls stand where they were made; these are the ones that only show at a month's distance. SourcesC

Technology

Winner: permission enforced outside the . October's incident record, from Anthropic's own report to Cohere's account of a Qwen model reaching for an unauthorized upload, made the model a poor judge of its own scope. The responses that held were external: OpenAI ended live internet access in frontier training, four large banks closed their login pages to outside agents, and Nvidia and Google shipped sandboxes that keep outside the guest. Reverse if a published incident shows an externally enforced boundary bypassed by the agent inside it. SourcesAAB

Winner: release calendars. Four labs named an October date for and four shipped: Mistral Large 4 at one trillion , Reflection's Beam, StepFun's Step 5 Preview and MiniMax's M3.1 Flash. That ends the year's pattern of slipping weights dates for this cohort. Reverse if Kimi K3.1 Pro misses November 4th and another named date slips in November. SourcesAA

Loser: an agent's own report as evidence of finished work. A planted flaw surfaced in 2 of 200 unprompted reports, 114 of 135 research submissions failed an integrity check, and Anthropic's agents wrote training data that passed its own monitor while still making models misaligned. Reverse if a replication across several models shows unprompted disclosure above 80%. SourcesAAC

Business

Winner: state attorneys general. In September they had subpoenas. In October Montana and Texas put agent intrusions into complaints and eight states sued over safety claims, without waiting for Congress or the FTC. Reverse if a court dismisses the Texas or Montana intrusion counts before trial. SourcesAA

Loser: OpenAI's terms of money. Its round fell from $30 billion at $1.4 trillion to about $20 billion at $1.25 trillion, with roughly $11 billion committed at the deadline, in the same month it restated revenue to a $50 billion net and drew three state complaints. Reverse if the round closes at $20 billion or more at $1.25 trillion by year-end. SourcesBB

Split: Anthropic. It filed a showing $4.585 billion of fiscal 2025 revenue and a reported $16.8 billion third quarter, then learned its lender expects a . Revenue says one thing about the company; the price of its debt says another. Resolved toward the revenue reading if its first rated issue prices below 8%. SourcesAB

Finance

Strong winner: memory makers. SK hynix reported an 80% operating margin and says and are effectively sold out to 2029; Nikkei counts memory makers out-earning five of the largest US tech companies. They are the only link in the chain paid up front. Reverse if SK hynix or Samsung cuts on HBM before the next report. SourcesBB

Strong loser: issuers in the US queue. Firmus withdrew, Solidigm's review was dropped, Nscale's buyers want roughly 40% off, DayOne weighed halving its raise, and CoreWeave's passed 1,100 . Not one GPU landlord priced a listing in October. Reverse if Nscale, DayOne or SB Energy prices at or above its first reported range by March 31st. SourcesBB

Loser: as a defense. Meta spent $34.91 billion on capital projects against $32.79 billion of operating cash and drew a from S&P; Intel fell 29% in a day, and the Nasdaq ended October down about 5%. Reverse if Meta returns to positive free cash flow in the fourth quarter. SourcesABB

September's calls, revisited

September callOctober verdict
Winner: independent verificationHeld and widened. METR embedded at Anthropic, published holes in OpenAI's monitoring, and the UK 's test put Mythos 5 out of scope in 9 of 43 runs.
Winner, narrowly: Chinese open-weight distributionHeld in China, weakened in the US. Apple chose Qwen for part of Siri in China, while DHS exclusion reached DeepSeek-derived software and reports said DeepSeek and Moonshot trained on GPT-6 Astra outputs.
Loser: model-level filters as containmentHeld. Every frontier lab now has an incident on record, and the remedies that shipped were external boundaries.
Winner, conditionally: Nvidia's dealWeakened. The Justice Department is asking how the purchase affects competition. Not reversed: no challenge is filed.
Loser: the pacing coalition's credibilityHeld by silence. No self-regulator launched and no court ruled; the thread is dormant.
Loser: signed demand as cover for construction riskHeld, and moved from construction to financing: the risk now shows in yields, not only in delays.
Withdraw the collapsed-China-IPO readingHeld. DeepSeek's private round closed near 100 billion yuan; AgiBot delayed its listing to raise privately first, with no failed book on record.
