Artificial Analysis rebuilds its index around tests models cannot have trained on

Artificial Analysis released version 5 of its Intelligence Index on Tuesday. Sixty percent of the score now comes from evaluations with private test sets or answers, and the four areas are weighted equally: knowledge work, coding, science and general. It added a private coding set, FrontierCode 2.0, and 70 terminal-based science tasks, and dropped SciCode and two others.

At launch Claude Opus 5.5 led at 58, GPT-6 Astra at 57 and GPT-6.1 Sol at 55, with Gemini 4 Argon at 50; Gemini 4 Carbon took the top spot at 59 a day later. A private test set answers the question of whether a model saw the questions. It raises another: nobody outside can check how the questions were chosen. SourcesA
