Kodiak signs its first binding deal for driverless trucks on public highways
Kodiak AI agreed to supply 75 driverless trucks to DTL Transport, a California produce hauler, with deliveries starting in 2028 on routes from Dallas to El Paso and along Interstate 20 from Dallas to Atlanta, TechCrunch reported Wednesday. DTL will own and run the trucks and pay Kodiak a per-mile fee for the driving software.
Kodiak plans to take safety operators out of the cab for a driverless service between Dallas and Houston in December. The deal value was not disclosed; TechCrunch estimates at least $11.2 million a year once all 75 are running, from Kodiak's own projections. A two-year delivery horizon is long enough for the regulatory picture to change. SourcesB
