Nvidia's Perplexity investment closes this year
Why I called it
The Information reports talks above $30 billion, and the pattern argues for closure: Nvidia has held a stake since 2023, just paid Poolside $6 billion for its model factory, and benefits from anchoring the application layer that markets its silicon. Against it, reported talks die more often than headlines suggest, and Perplexity has enough independent demand to shop terms.
The call, in full. Nvidia and Perplexity announce an agreed Nvidia equity investment in Perplexity at a post-money valuation of at least $30 billion on or before December 31st 2026.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES CORRECT if Nvidia or Perplexity announces, or at least two named outlets confirm, a completed or definitively agreed Nvidia equity investment in Perplexity at a post-money valuation of at least $30 billion on or before 2026-12-31. RESOLVES WRONG otherwise.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
