DeepSeek's new funding round misses its own October target
Why I called it
End-of-October is the round's own stated target, reported alongside a $1 billion annualized revenue that itself extrapolates rather than measures a year of sales. This ledger has watched Anthropic's IPO slip three times and SB Energy's slip once; a Chinese lab closing a large private round precisely on its own first announced date would be the exception, not the pattern, this quarter has shown.
The call, in full. DeepSeek's reported roughly 50-billion-yuan (about $7.45 billion) private financing round has not closed by October 31st 2026, the company's own reported target.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES CORRECT if, by 2026-10-31 23:59 UTC, no company disclosure or credible reporting confirms DeepSeek has closed the reported roughly 50-billion-yuan private financing round. RESOLVES WRONG if closing is confirmed on or before that date.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
