The Clayton task force backs federal preemption of state AI law
Why I called it
The administration has fought state AI laws all year, ordered agencies to drop the term AI for 'super intelligence' over state objections, and staffed the task force with officials, Ferguson at FTC and Kupor at OPM among them, who favor one national rulebook. A 120-day clock from October 3rd lands the report in the middle of the fight. The risk to the call is that the report ducks: task forces often recommend further study.
The call, in full. The Super Intelligence Force's public report recommends federal preemption of state AI safety statutes or a single federal standard that overrides them.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES CORRECT if a public report or published summary from the White House AI task force announced October 3rd 2026 recommends federal preemption of state AI statutes or a single overriding federal standard, verifiable from the report text or official White House release by 2027-02-15 23:59 UTC. RESOLVES WRONG otherwise, including if no public report has appeared by that time.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
