Broadcom's OpenAI chip financing closes at $30 billion or more
Why I called it
The WSJ reports Broadcom arranging more than $50 billion and Bloomberg describes preliminary talks near $30 billion with no formal process begun. The same private-credit pool upsized Waymo on demand and is being pitched SpaceX's $40 billion, so lender appetite is established. What is not established is whether a depreciating-collateral chip program gets institutional terms at this scale twice in one year, after the Anthropic package.
The call, in full. Broadcom closes at least $30 billion in financing commitments for its OpenAI custom-chip program on or before June 30th 2027.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES CORRECT if, on or before 2027-06-30 23:59 UTC, a company statement or reporting by a named outlet confirms closed financing commitments of $30 billion or more for the Broadcom-OpenAI custom chip program. RESOLVES WRONG otherwise.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
