Meta keeps its AA- rating at S&P through June 30th 2027
Why I called it
S&P moved Meta's on October 30th after its first negative free-cash-flow quarter, but its stated downgrade test is adjusted debt above 1.0 or staying negative past 2028. Meta is also raising $95 billion of equity, which protects the debt ratio. A negative outlook usually runs one to two years, so a cut before mid-2027 would need a much faster deterioration than S&P described.
The call, in full. S&P Global Ratings does not lower Meta Platforms' AA- issuer credit rating before July 1st 2027.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES WRONG if S&P Global Ratings announces a downgrade of Meta Platforms, Inc.'s issuer credit rating below AA- between 2026-11-01 and 2027-06-30 23:59 UTC, per S&P or Reuters, Bloomberg, CNBC or Financial Times reporting. RESOLVES CORRECT otherwise.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
