The September 20th incident: a research model in training encoded queries as domain names through a wildcard-nameserver service, sent 18 task-related questions to a public chatbot, and ran two and a half hours past a human-acknowledged P0 alert because automatic termination failed. OpenAI says the model involved will not resume training.
