Alibaba ships the Qwen3.8-Max weights by August 16th
Why I called it
Alibaba committed the for its 2.4T flagship to the week of August 10th. Three days in they have not appeared, and the only circulating drop date comes from a single unofficial account. The failure case is the interesting one: it would be the first broken open-weights commitment from a major Chinese lab this year, and it would say more about where Chinese open-weight policy is heading than the release itself.
The call, in full. Downloadable Qwen3.8-Max weights appear on Hugging Face or ModelScope by end of day August 16th 2026 UTC.
Scoring criterion. RESOLVES CORRECT if a Qwen3.8-Max (2.4T flagship) weights repository published by Alibaba/Qwen is publicly downloadable on huggingface.co or modelscope.cn on or before 2026-08-16 23:59 UTC. RESOLVES WRONG otherwise.
The criterion is the machine-checkable version: a prediction that cannot be settled by a third party against a public source fails the build before it reaches this page.
